Tuition Fees in Portugal

Tuition fees in Portugal for international students vary depending on the level of education and the type of institution.

On average, a bachelor’s or master’s degree costs between 5,000 to 7,000 euros per year, while a PhD program costs 3,000 to 4,500 euros per year. Part-time students at a public university pay around 70% of full-time fees, and transfer students may be exempt from fees. International students have the right to study in Portugal,  and there are individual quota systems in place.

To get admission, applicants need a minimum of 12 years of education and proficiency in English or Portuguese. Many universities offer courses in both English and Portuguese.

IELTS is mandatory for higher education in Portugal, but study gaps are acceptable, depending on university criteria. International students can also apply for a Temporary Residency Permit.
