After completing studies in Portugal, non-EU citizens must secure suitable employment to extend their residency. They can apply for a work permit, which can be for employed workers, research workers, highly qualified professionals, or self-employed workers. Alternatively, they can apply for the EU Blue Card, which is available to highly skilled workers from non-EU/EFTA countries.

The cost of living, food, and transportation in Portugal is affordable, typically ranging from 350 to 400 EUR per month. However, there are additional fees such as embassy fees, insurance, flight booking, accommodation, consultancy fees, etc., that can cost anywhere between 1,500 to 2,000 EUR, depending on the services desired.
