Residence Permit for Health Reasons (122-G) Applying for a residence permit for individuals with mental or physical health issues who are family members of EU citizens or hold Portuguese residency, or nationality. If you are a family member of an EU national or hold a Portuguese residency/nationality and require prolonged medical care due to mental or physical health issues, you can apply for a residence permit in Portugal. The details of this can be found in Article 122, Paragraph 1 and Sub-Paragraph G on the AIMA website. Family members over the age of 18, such as siblings or adult children, are also eligible for residency. To apply, you must first schedule an appointment with AIMA, and then personally visit and submit the required documents.
