Business Related Visa in Portugal

To visit Portugal for business purposes, you need to apply for a short-stay business visa. This visa allows you to stay in Portugal for up to 90 days for business meetings, employment or partnership meetings.

If you are an entrepreneur, freelancer, independent professional, or investor interested in starting a business in Portugal, you may be eligible for the Portuguese D2 visa. The D2 visa is a long-term visa that is also known as the entrepreneur visa, independent professional visa, or start-up visa in Portugal.

To be eligible for the Portuguese D2 visa, you need to have a solid business plan and research about your future business in Portugal. You must also demonstrate a strong connection with the Portuguese business community and have sufficient capital to start your business.

The steps to obtain a D2 visa are: 1) research and connect with the Portuguese business community, 2) establish a branch office in Portugal, 3) obtain all necessary licenses and permits, 4) open a business bank account, 5) hire an accountant/manager, 6) start paying taxes and social contributions, 7) transfer business capital to a Portuguese bank account, 8) fill out the D2 visa application form, and 9) prepare a solid business plan and cover letter along with required documents.

The Portuguese consulate may also require additional documents or call for an interview. The final visa decision will take 2-3 months and will be made by the AIMA Portuguese immigration authority. After the visa is granted, you must book an appointment with AIMA for biometrics and receive a two-year residence card.
